Remembrance Sunday
St Paul’s once again played a large part in the Remembrance Service held on November 14th at the Cenotaph outside Sale Town Hall. Bernard led the service and the choir led the hymn singing. The photo at right shows the choir processing back to Church after the service.
Harvest Supper 2010
The Church Hall was the venue for a Harvest Supper on October 9th. The event was very well attended and proved an enjoyable occasion. The Hall had been transformed into a gently lit restraunt with fairy lights, candles and table lamps.
An ample hot pot supper was provided by the Corner family.
The event began with games and funds were raised with a raffle.
Entertainment was provided by Sale Nomads who rounded off the evening with songs and comedy.
Heritage Open Day
Once again St Paul’s opened its doors for Heritage Open Day. This year, on Sept 11t, it had a Victorian Theme with the hall decked out for Victorian afternoon teas and the Church filled with artefacts, old photos, parish registers etc. Tower tours were a popular event and there was a children’s corner to keep the younger ones occupied.
A Scout and Guide band provided entertainment outside and the choir sang hymn requests inside. For more photos see the slideshow below.

Deborah’s Ordination
Deborah Prest was ordained as a Deacon at Chester Cathedral on July 4th. A total of 18 deacons were ordained at a service before a packed congregation. A large party from St Paul’s attended together with Deborah’s family and some old friends.

Men’s Society Bowling Match
On a glorious evening on June 24th the Men’s Society held their annual bowls match. Around a dozen members took to the green at the Railway Club at Navigation Road.
The final was between Harry, Ron and Eric and Eric was the eventual winner – although he could not receive his trophy as it could not be found!
Pentecost Ecumenical Service
An Ecumenical Service promoted by “Churches Together in Sale” was held on Whit Sunday in Worthington Park.
On a glorious afternoon a large congregation assembled around the bandstand with music provided by the Sale Salvation Army Band.
Ministers from four churches conducted the service with Bernard providing the prayers.
Easter Events at St Paul’s
During the Eucharist on Easter Sunday morning the cross at the chancel steps was decorated with flowers by the congregation sfter they had received communion. The photo at right shows the vicar with the ‘flower ladies’ at the cross.
In the hall after the Easter Eucharist service there was a presentation of flowers and a cake to Joan Haynes who had just celebrated her 90th birthday.
The photo above shows Joan being congratulated by choir members.
At a similar ceremony on the Thursday bfore Palm Sunday a cake was shared at an open Men’s Society meeting to celebrate Barbara Robinson’s 95th birthday.
