Youth in Concert V – 2002
The fifth in a series of concerts given by the Trafford Youth Concert Band and the Altrincham Grammar School Choir took place in St Paul’s Church on Saturday 23rd November. The event was sponsored by the St Paul’s Men’s Society in aid of the Disabled Access Project.
Before the concert started an elderly lady arrived in a wheelchair, asking which entrance had the ramp. This shows that the Disabled Access Project is not in vain but was not in time for this lady who had to be helped up the steps into the Church.
As usual the concert provided a wide variety of music, performed to an excellent standard and thanks go to Anthony Houghton for conducting the band and to John Beilby for conducting the choir.
Around 70 young people participated in the band and choir and the roof of the church shook on occasions when the percussion instruments were at full volume.
In all £400 was raised towards the Disabled Access Project so the Church will benefit from this and the audience benefitted by hearing some fine music on a cold November night, The photo shows the choir and band in full flow.

Thanks are due to Anthony Houghton and the approx 50 youngsters of the TYCB and Simon Hunt and 24 Thursday Singers for giving their time and effort.
