Palm Sunday April 1st

The annual Palm Sunday service began in the Church Hall and the Choir and Congregation then processed into the Church for the Service.

Mothers’ Union Prayer Partners – May 5th

The Mothers’ Union hosted a meeting with their Prayer Partners from St John’s High Leigh on May 5th and the photo shows them at the Chancel steps.

Men’s Society Visit to David’s Farm – May 31st

For the Men’s Society May meeting we were invited to David & Anne’s farm in Culcheth. On a glorious evening we were taken on a tour of the farm on a trailer pulled by a tractor. Getting Gerry onto (and off) the trailer was an event in itself. Afterwards we were treated to tea, coffee and cakes – a super evening. For  photos see the slideshow below.

Choir celebration for John’s 75th

To celebrate John Clisset’s 75th birthday the choir presented him with an hour at the organ at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester. 4135288_15946497The picture shows him seated at the organ with Edna acting as page turner.

Men’s Society Bowling Match – June 28th

The annual Bowling match was held on a damp evening which did not prevent the full event from taking place. 12 members bowled in groups of three and then a semi-final and final were contested. The final was between David and John and they can be seen in action and John being presented with the trophy in the photos.

Ordination of Kathy Kirby – July 1st

On Sunday July 1st a coach party left St Paul’s at 8:30am for a visit to Chester Cathedral for the ordination of Kathy Kirby as Deacon.

Kathy will now serve as Curate at St Paul’s and the photo at right shows her after the Festal Evensong at St Paul’s on the evening of her ordination.

Heritage Open Day 8th Sept

St Paul’s opened its doors again for the National Heritage Open day on Saturday 8th September. img_2458The West window repairs were completed just in time so all the scaffolding which has stood around the entrance was removed. A large number of visitors came through the church and Ian & Rob completed a sponsored bike ride around 17 parishes covering 35 miles in just under 6 hours. The photo shows them after they returned to St Pauls.

Diane’s Licensing Sept 15th

Diane Thomas was licensed as a Pastoral Worker for St Paul’s at a service in Chester Cathederal on Saturday 15th September.

A coach party went to Chester to support Diane and are shown in the photo below before setting off. Diane is shown holding her certificate in the photo on the right.

Her license also covers her to work at Styal Women’s Prison

Visit to Gorton Monastery

A party of 25 made up of the Men’s Society, their wives and friends , made a return visit to the Gorton Monastery on September 27th. This time the church is open for business and a very informative talk was given by Tony Hurley, followed by tea and biscuits. The photo of the event can be seen in the slideshow below.

Harvest 2007

The weekend of October 6/7th saw the Harvest celebrations at St Paul’s. There was a Harvest Supper on the Saturday evening with a great hot-pot followed by entertainment.

On the Sunday a packed church took part in the morning Harvest Festival service followed by a bring and share lunch. The Springfield School Choir sang two hymns and the school had gathered a large collection of tinned food for presentation to the Mustard Tree charity. The photos show the tin collection amd the School Choir.

Remembrance Sunday

On Sunday 11th November, St Paul’s Clergy and Choir led the annual Remembrance Day service at the Cenotaph at Sale Town Hall. img_2661The photo shows the Choir processing to the Cenotaph after the morning service in Church.

Youth in Concert X

The 10th Concert in the series took place on Saturday 24th Novemberimg_2679 and the photo shows part of the newly formed Trafford Senior Youth Choir. Further details are shown here.
