The Stations of the Cross have formed part of Christian devotion at Passiontide for many centuries because they offer a particularly vivid way of following in the steps of Jesus on the way to the Cross, and enable us to engage actively with the path of suffering walked by Jesus. They originated when early Christians visited Jerusalem and wanted to follow literally in the footsteps of Jesus, tracing the path from Pilate’s house to Calvary. They would pause for prayer and devotion at various points. Eventually, those pilgrims brought the practice back to their home countries and ever since then Christians of differing traditions have used this form of devotion.
The following services will take place at St Paul’s
7pm Monday 7th March
7pm Monday 21st March
7pm Monday 11th April

Vicky nominated Sydney for her vital support and contribution to the leadership team throughout the pandemic. In Sydney’s own words “I love volunteering, befriending the children and guiding them to be better people” “I am often asked to assist with church events, where I give my time to the parish community, helping the elderly members of the church”.
She received, along with 13 other finalists, an engraved award, a certificate and a cheque. This was presented on stage at the University of Bolton by The High Sheriff of Greater Manchester, Diane Hawkins.
