“Giving” Sunday

The theme of the Sunday Morning service on July 2nd was “giving” and the Vicar outlined the costs involved in keeping the Church open week to week. The congregation were encouraged to review their contributions and all were given a letter from Brian, our Planned Giving Officer, which can be read at the link below.

The letter has also been added to our Donation page which can be found at the main menu above.

140th Anniversary Service & Afternoon Tea

On June 25th St Paul’s held their 140th Anniversary Choral Evensong followed by Afternoon Tea.

Despite the warm weather a heavy shower just before the service started meant that the afternoon tea had to be held in the Hall.

A large congregation attended the Service including many old friends of St Paul’s who had travelled to be present. The Choir had been augmented by friends and contributed to the many choral numbers during the service. The sermon was given by Canon John Sutton.

After the Service the event moved to the Church Hall where extra tables and chairs had to be set out to cope with the numbers. A special cake, made by Carole, included the names of all the Vicars of St Pauls during the past 140 years. The cake was cut by John who is our longest serving member of the congregation and who has been at St Paul’s for over 80 years.

The slideshow below shows photos taken during the afternoon and below that is the Order of Service.

Organ Recital by Jonathan Scott

As part of our 140th Anniversary celebrations an Organ Recital was held in Church on the afternoon of June 10th. Jonathan is well known as an international performer, arranger and a really wonderful ambassador for the organ. The photos below show Jonathan with Anne, our Director of Music, and the screen erected to show Jonathan at the keyboard.

The event was a great success and raised a substantial amount for the Organ Fund.

Whit Sunday Service

The annual Pentecost service organised by Churches together in Sale was hosted by St Paul’s this year.

On a lovely spring afternoon about 200 people attended on the Canal bank beside the Church and the music was led by the Salvation Army Band and as well as congregation hymns there were special songs by the Churches Together Pop-up Choir.

The homily was given by Revd Richard from the Avenue Methodist Church and afternoon tea refreshments were provided by St Paul’s.

The slideshow below shows photos taken during the event and the service sheet is shown after the photos.
