After a three year delay due to Covid the “annual” bowls evening finally got underway on Aug 18th at the Linden Club. We were joined by members of the Sale Rotary club and eighteen people attended.
A splendid supper had been provided by Carole and Jean (with Eric “timing” the cake). The forecast had been for rain throughout the evening but shortly after 6:30pm the rain cleared and we were able to both bowl and eat outside. The four semi-finalists were Brian, Garry, Eric and Barbara from the Rotary Club. Eventually Brian won the final against Barbara.
The slideshow below shows photos taken during the evening.
After this mornings service (July 24th) there was a special celebration in the Church Hall to mark Frank’s 101st birthday which was during the previous week. The event had already been marked on the BBC TV Northwest Tonight programme. The photos below show the special cake and Frank cutting it.

The Vicar’s July letter, which can be read in the Magazine above is shown below.

On June 23rd Yvonne was sworn in as one of our Church Wardens at St Bartholomew’s, Wilmslow. She joined churchwardens and sides people across the Deaneries of Bowden and Knutsford for this special service with Archdeacon Ian giving the address and charge.

It was a busier Sunday than usual- from hosting the Falklands 40th Anniversary memorial service with local cadets and veterans to lending a hand with the Churches Together children’s crafts stall at the Lions Father’s Day Fair at Worthington Park and concluding the day with 6pm evening prayer.
The morning service was attended by the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Trafford, Chris Boyes and the Archdeacon of Macclesfield, Ian Bishop.
The photos below were taken on the day.
The photos below were taken after the service which was followed by the parade to the Cenotaph to lay wreaths.
Our Jubilee celebrations began with a Pentecost Confirmation service on Sunday afternoon taken by the Bishop of Stockport with the Mayor of Trafford, Councillor Chris Boyes, and the Mayoress in attendance. Following the service and due to the uncertain weather a Platinum Jubilee party was held in the Church Hall. Music was provided by a choir from Springfield Road school and the Sale Salvation Army Band. The latter led everyone in singing some of the Queen’s favourite hymns.
The event was held as part of the annual Churches Together in Sale celebration for Pentecost.
A packed hall enjoyed a fabulous spread of food and beverages including the special Jubilee trifle.
The Bishop presented the members of the choir with Jubilee teddy bears to mark the occasion.
The photos below were taken during the afternoon.
