A prayer on St. George’s Day

Heavenly Father, give us the bravery of St George to stand up for what we believe.  Give us the strength to overcome the dragons in our lives and in the world.  And where we see people in distress, give us the compassion to help them. Amen

The stained glass window shown in the slideshow below, depicting St. George and the Dragon was given by Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Bird of Elmwood, Brooklands Road, Sale in Memory of the Members of the St. Paul’s Company of the Church Lads Brigade who Fell in the Great War.

Sunday Service – April 25th

Unfortunately for our services this Sunday morning (25th April) we have been unable to get any clergy cover so there will be no 8.30am BCP Communion and the 10am service will be Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer will be taken by Michael at 6pm as usual.

HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh

At 4pm on Saturday 17th April, following the funeral of His Royal Highness the Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, in his honour the tenor bell of this Parish Church will be tolled ninety-nine times.

A PRAYER ON THE DEATH OF HRH THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH

God of our lives,we give thanks for the life of Prince Philip,for his love of our country,and for his devotion to duty.

We entrust him now to your love and mercy,through our Redeemer Jesus Christ. Amen.

The Church remains open for all visitors on Sunday afternoons, 2pm to 4pm, providing an opportunity to come in to look around, light a candle and to pause for reflection, private prayer in the peace and tranquilly of this Holy place.

We remember before God HRH Prince Philip and give thanks for his life and example of devotion and service.

Our Prayers, and heartfelt condolences are with Her Majesty the Queen and all the Royal Family at this time of great sorrow.

Easter Day

A good congregation attended our Easter Sunday service following the decision to open the Church in a Covid secure way to the public.

The slideshow below shows photos taken both outside and inside the Church on Easter Day. The display in the porch includes easter eggs which can by taken by passers-by on the way to the Bridgewater canal.

During the service three members of the Choir were allowed to sing and the short video below is of the first verse of the final hymn.
