Message from the Vicar -25th March

Good morning.

Our situation has now changed and we are no longer allowed to open the church. But that does not mean we stop being church.   I will light a candle in the front window of my house  each evening at 7pm  and use it to aid me to pray for our loved ones, our community, ourselves and especially for those who are sick and those who are working hard to keep things going, those who work in the health service, those who work in retail and in the service industries. Please do the same in your house. I will also try as far as possible to  put a daily prayer on line and try to broadcast   short services on Sundays  from my home, forgive me of they are not very good, I am not a  ‘techie’ but will do my best.

Doing our best in the current situation is all that we can do and

I will try to post some prayers over the next few days which you might like to use and invite you to post prayers to share with others.

We will also try to give practical support to those who need it and are compiling a list of those who can help. If you can offer help please contact myself or Yvonne Kerridge so we can put you on the helpers list and if you need help please call us and we will try to help  or at least point you in the right direction.

Below is a copy of the notice now on the church doors which shows  the  phone numbers of some of the church team.  Also below is a link to the Church of England website which has numerous pages of spiritual guidance.

COVID-19

The Church continues to be alive and active, but our buildings must close.

We are seeing a huge increase in the number of people falling sick with COVID-19. We must distance ourselves from one another and prevent the spread of infection in order to save lives.

Therefore, as well as public worship being suspended, this and all church buildings in the Church of England are now closed.

Our worship of God and our care for each other continue but cannot be done in this building.
Our website contains details of how to join others online for prayer, worship, study, and community life.

Message from the Vicar

Good morning, what a strange situation we find ourselves in. It is I think unprecedented in the Church of England to stop all church services, but that does not mean we stop being church. St. Paul’s will open at our usual service times for people to come in and quietly pray for our loved ones, our community, ourselves and especially for those who are sick and those who are working hard to keep things going, those who work in the health service, those who work in retail and in the service industries. If you cannot leave your house then join us by praying at home at our service times of Thursday morning at 10am, Sunday at 8.30am, 10 am, and 6 pm. I will try to post some prayers over then next few days which you might like to use and invite you to post prayers to share with others.  Also will you join us on Sunday evening by joining in the day of prayer the Archbishops of Canterbury and York  have called for by putting a lit candle in your window at 7pm to show your support. We will also try to give practical support to those who need it and are compiling a list of those who can help. If you can offer help please contact myself or Yvonne Kerridge so we can put you on the list of those we can call on.  With love and prayers , Rev Barbara

Coronavirus Emergency Measures

Dear People,

It is with great sorrow but also with common sense and concern for our community that we will be suspending public worship in St Paul’s  church until further notice.  The church will be open at  our usual worship times for people to come in and pray, and on Saturday mornings as usual. We would ask that you use the sanitiser provided and leave your name and a contact number in the register.

If you are in need of comfort, prayer or practical support please do phone us on one of the following numbers

0161 973  1042

0161 962 4066

0161 283 8309

Babes and Tots announcement

Babes and Tots

As a precautionary measure and because the group is organised by people over 70, who may soon have Government restrictions placed upon them, we are suspending St. Paul’s Babes and Tots for the time being. Keep looking out for when we re-open.

Update on Purple for Polio

The photo below was taken on March 2nd by Harry Dobbs and shows some crocuses near where we planted the crocus bulbs which were donated to the church for the Rotary Club Purple for Polio campaign.
