Casper Blackburn
1995 – 2017
St. Paul’s Church is open all day for those wishing to light a candle, say a prayer or simply spend a short time in the peace and tranquility of this place on the first anniversary of the death of Casper Harvey Blackburn.
The Church will also be open during and between services on Sunday 7th October, the day on which his body was recovered from the Bridgewater Canal.
May he rest in peace.
Churches Together in Sale
This Sunday, 30th September, at 7pm, the Chester Cathedral Nave Choir will be visiting St. Paul’s Parish Church, to perform Choral Evensong. This is an Ecumenical Service, part of the ‘Churches Together in Sale’ programme of quarterly fifth Sunday evening services.

Babes and Tots
Babes and Tots have now re-opened after the summer break and are meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Church Hall from 9:30am to 11am.
Heritage Open Day
On a wet day on September 8th St Paul’s hosted their annual Heritage Open Day. Despite the weather all the events went ahead indoors with the exception of the barbecue which continued outside under its gazebo. The Bollin Morris dancers were pleased to be able to dance in the Church following their earlier performance in the rain at the Timperley Country Fair. They even managed to persuade the Mayor to join in. Punch and Judy performed in the small vestry to an enthralled audience of youngsters. The Cadishead Brass Band were also able to perform in Church following St Paul’s Community Choir.
The refreshments in the Hall did a roaring trade (although the photos below were taken before the crowds rolled in from the rain)

There but not There
Visit to
On Wednesday the 1st August, 8 of us ladies belonging to St Pauls paid a visit to the Mustard Tree in Ancoats. We were having a guided tour of the newly refurbished premises belonging to this Charity which we all support.
Well, we were all suitably impressed, firstly be the wonderful Welcome we were given and then by the professional and sensitive way the public were dealt with.
The premises themselves were second to none as the photographs will show you and the people who make good use of them can avail themselves to Food, Clothes, Furniture, Ornaments and enough to fit out a kitchen bedroom and indeed a home.
As well as material things the Staff try to stretch their horizons by engaging them in Music Lessons, Learning to play an instrument, recording studio, Art classes and the use of all materials free of charge. There is a Cafe/Restaurant where we enjoyed a cup of coffee/tea and a biscuit, they have a theatre complete with stage and the room opens out on to the cafe/restaurant in order to enjoy performances. They are helped to complete CV’s and apply for jobs etc.
All of the above is due to their Social Enterprise Scheme, they do received help from several large organisations as well as donations from people such as ourselves as part of our Community Giving.
I’m really looking forward to going again soon.
Please remember that they desperately need donations of hygiene products as well as food etc.

Frank’s Birthday
After the Sunday morning service on July 29th a special cake was cut by Frank Tolley to celebrate his 97th birthday. His actual birthday had been the week before and he had spent it with all the Tolley family on the occasion of his youngest great grandchild’s christening.
